The Problem

More than four million people in England are long-term users of antidepressants.

Data from NHS Digital show that 70.9 million prescriptions for antidepressants were given out in 2018, compared with 36 million in 2008. The number of prescriptions for antidepressants in England has almost doubled in the past decade, according NHS Digital data.

NHS is spending £5.5m (2016 figures) on Antidepressants each week, as failing mental health services struggle to provide alternative therapies, according NHS Digital data.

According to the figures obtained from the NHS Business Services Authority, one in six 18 to 64-year-olds were prescribed antidepressants in 2017, rising to one in five among those aged 65 and over.

Twice as many women as men are being prescribed antidepressants in all age groups.

Around 1 million people received psychological therapy for a common mental disorder through a programme in 2016/17.

One in six people aged 16+ reported having symptoms of a common mental disorder.

According to research, the two factors that effectively help people achieve the behaviour change they desire (goals):

·         Incentives

·         accountability.

When you are accountable to someone for doing what you said you would do, you can easily get stuff done because you engage the power of social expectations.

Accountability accelerates your performance

The American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) did a study on accountability and found that you have a 65% of completing a goal if you commit to someone. And if you have a specific accountability appointment with a person you’ve committed, you will increase your chance of success by up to 95%.

By using a life coach/transformational coach can help encourage a person/organisation on matters having to do with careers or personal challenges.

According to Newsweek a life coach is “Part consultant, part motivational speaker, part therapist and part rent-a-friend, coaches work with managers, entrepreneurs, and just plain folks, helping them define and achieve their goals — career, personal, or most often, both.”

Hiring a life coach can push you to become better versions of yourself, much like how a personal trainer pushes her or his client to be their best physically. The difference is that a personal trainer can motivate by pushing someone to be in the best condition they can be through a tailored exercise regimen, while a life coach will motivate a person to reach a goal and encourage mental health. A life coach is a source of positivity, motivation, and accountability in their physical fitness, personal relationships, and professional life.

Once the life coach has identified stressors or goals for a person, they can work with them to create direction and focus and give advice.

a life coach is not a counsellor. They merely provide their clients with guidance and motivation, so they can make their own decisions.

Our program helps you to figure out what makes you happy, set goals to work toward it; plan the steps to achieve those goals and check daily that you are staying in the ‘Happiness Zone’.
